34th Annual Sports Day

The 34th Annual Sports Day of Pushpalata Schools was held on the 25th January 2020 at the school Ground. It was a great privilege to have Mr. Dinesh Karthik, Indian wicket-keeper and batsman who made his debut for the Indian cricket team in 2004. He became captain of the Kolkata Knight Riders Indian Premier League team during the 2018 season.

The 34thAnnual Sports Day commenced with the Prayer Song.

The ceremonial parade was led by the Head Girl and the School Pupil Leader of Pushpalata Schools. They were followed by the School Band and following the School Band we had, The Bharat Scouts and Guides, Junior Red Cross and the National Green Corps. They were followed by the various houses of Pushpalata Schools. In total, there were 900 Athletes in 11 contingents.

Pigeons which symbolize home and security. They are thought to bring love, peace and an understanding of gentleness. Pigeons were let go by the Chief Guest Mr. Dinesh Karthikand our Senior Principal Mrs. Pushpaveni Ayyappan.

Prizes were given to the Outstanding Performers, Individual Champions and the overall Champions of Pushpalata Matriculation Higher Secondary School. The Overall Championship award was bagged by Butia, the Red House.

Various breath-taking cultural programmes like the Karate Display, Fruit Drill, Stay Healthy Dance drill, Umbrella Drill, Bamboo and Rajasthani Folk Dance, Yoga and the Peace Parade were performed by the students which took the audience spellbound. The School Choir entertained the audience with their melodious songs and the highlight was that a song sung by them was written and composed by our own Music Teachers.

The Peace Parade which featured 19 Nobel Peace Prize Laureates led by the Father of our Nation was truly mesmerizing. The message, “We are the Children for Peace on Earth” was touching and inspiring indeed. A Float which carried the symbol of Peace – The Dove, was created by our art department. This was truly remarkable and captivating.

The 34th Annual Sports Day of Pushpalata Schools filled everyone with loads of ‘Power’, ‘Self-confidence’ and of course ‘Winning spirit.’

In the end the School Flag was lowered by the Senior Principal. The 34th Annual Sports day of Pushpalata Schools ended with the National Anthem.
